MCGRATH RULED OUT

BRISBANE forward Ashley McGrath has been ruled out of the Lions clash against the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba tomorrow night.

McGrath, 24, is suffering from a knee injury sustained in Round Nine and will be a major loss for the Lions, having kicked 20 kicked for the season.

GAME MORE IMPORTANT FOR MATTHEWS

BRISBANE Lions coach Leigh Matthews admits the build up to this week’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at the GABBA on Saturday night will be massive but says the game itself is more important.

Speaking from his weekly press conference in Brisbane, Matthews spoke about the build up for Jason Akermanis’ return to Brisbane, after his highly publicised departure at the end of last season.

“It will be a highly publicised week no doubt,” Matthews said. “But we have to concentrate on the game. Ultimately the game itself is what the footy department have to concentrate on.”

LION POWER BLOW

BRISBANE have been dealt a blow on the eve of their round ten clash with Richmond, with gun midfielder Luke Power ruled out through injury.

Lions coach Leigh Matthews said Power is still suffering from a thigh injury and didn’t travel with the team.

He is expected to be replaced by one of Scott Harding or Joel Macdonald, who travelled with the team as emergencies.
